Return to the IVS network

It was on May 25, 2021, that, after an intense period of repairs to the radio telescope at the Santa Maria RAEGE Station, the Station rejoined the IVS (International VLBI Service for Geodesy & Astronomy) network in legacy R1 and R4 in-band sessions. S: 2.2-2.7 GHz and X-band: 7.5-9 GHz, for VLBI Geodetic observations.

The IVS Network is an international collaboration of organizations that operate or support VLBI. This network provides data and analysis to support VLBI research and development to integrate this information into a global Earth observation system. This news comes after the correlation results have been quite satisfactory in the first observations made.

RAEGE-Az takes the opportunity to thank all the partners and elements involved, especially the engineers and technicians from both RAEGE-Az (Portugal) and the National Geographic Institute (Spain) for their dedication and work developed throughout this period and for making Santa Maria’s RAEGE Station return to IVS network.
