Internship Award “Best Scientific Mission”

Organized by Ciência Viva (Portuguese science center) and the European Space Agency (ESA), CanSat Portugal is a project of ESERO Portugal (European Space Education Resource Office). All high school students in the country are challenged to build a working micro-satellite model using a soda can (CanSat).

The edition finale of 2019 took place on Santa Maria Island on May 3rd, 4th, and 5th, and prizes were awarded to the winning teams. The Pegasus Team from Adolfo Portela High School from Águeda won the Best Scientific Mission category and it was awarded by the Associação RAEGE Açores.

The award was a one-week internship, held from 9th to 13th September 2019, at Santa Maria’s RAEGE Station, with an in-depth explanation of the various techniques used and the existing equipment.

The team also had the opportunity to visit EDISOFT Station in Santa Maria and get a global view of the space sector projects on the island.
