Teachers in training at the Santa Maria RAEGE Station

From the 5th to the 9th of July 2021, Santa Maria’s RAEGE Station received a group of teachers from pre-school and 1st cycle education for training by ESERO Portugal: “Understanding the Earth through Space”, the result of a partnership between RAEGE-Az and Expolab – Centro de Ciência Viva (science center).

The main objective of the training was to promote the literacy of teachers on issues related to Space and provide them tools that can articulate with various levels of education they teach, contextualizing the day-to-day of the RAEGE Station in the topics covered and, in this way, provide practical examples that can be observed in loco.

During this period, areas such as climate change, effects of forces on bodies, and electrical and magnetic phenomena were addressed, with the aim of achieving a better understanding of the phenomena that occur on Earth, using examples of similar situations in space and essentially resorting to activities practices that can then be transmitted in a classroom context, thus promoting greater knowledge of existing space technologies.
