World Space Week 2021- Azorean Women in Space

RAEGE-Az participated in the celebration of the 2021 edition of World Space Week, dedicated to “Women in Space”, with the session “Azorean Women in Space” in some schools of both São Miguel and Santa Maria from the Azores Islands. This initiative was promoted locally by the Santana Astronomical Observatory (OASA), a partner of RAEGE-Az in the dissemination of science.
After having been at Santa Maria Basic and Secondary School, OASA and RAEGE-Az developed another session on October 8th for more than 200 students from the 9th and 12th grades of Antero De Quental and Povoação high schools.
For about an hour, students were able to listen and question three women who work and study in the areas of space, two of whom are RAEGE-Az employees. In a conversation that was intended to be close, these women were able to share their academic and professional paths, and raise awareness of the reality of the courses and the job market in the space field.
