Last May 12th, in partnership with the University of the Azores, we welcomed the students from the 1st and 2nd years of the Electrical Engineering degree at the RAEGE Station in Santa Maria.
Several experimental procedures were done, bringing the students closer to the professional reality, putting them to work directly with some of the station's equipment, characterizing an RF filter, exploring the Sampling Theorem, had the opportunity to prepare an observation (checklist, DBBC, and data recording), did some pointing and calibration on the radio telescope, and explored data analysis, getting to know a little bit of the VieVs software. There was also room to talk a little bit about solar studies and Sun-Earth interaction.
The students spent a full day at the Santa Maria RAEGE Station, attended by the teacher Nuno Sá and the Station's Research and Development team, Mariana Moreira, Diogo Avelar, and Valente Cuambe, and also with the collaboration of the Station's director, João Salmim Ferreira.
